Sourashtra Language.

Sourashtra Language is the off shoot of Sauraseni Prakrit.
so says Prof. T.M.Ramarai.
It is spoken in Tamil Nadu. The speakers are spread throughout Tamil Nadu and mainly concentrated in Madurai.In other State and in other Countries also Sourashtras are living.
It is a literary language and have many literature. Ramayana and Mahabarata are available.
Translation of Bhagavat Geetha and Thirukkural into Sourashtram are available.
This is a minority language and it is not taught in schools.
Sourashtra script is in a developing stage. For the time being many books are printed using Tamil script with diacritic marks.
