International Mother Language Day-21st February.

Unesco's General Conference has proclaimed 21st February as the International Mother Language Day every year since February 2000 to promote Linguistic and Cultural Diversity and Multilingualism. Languages are the most powerful instrument for preserving and developing our heritage. The celebration of the day promotes the dissemination of mother tongues and serves to spread awareness of linguistic and cultural traditions and inspire solidarity based on understanding, tolerance and dialogue.

So on this occasion, a one-day Conference was held on 21st February 2010 at Scope Complex, Lodhi Road, New Delhi-110011.

The program was changed and only Minority Minister Sri Salman Khurshid addressed the Conference.

EC Meeting of Aryankavu Devasthana Sourashtra Mahajana Sangam.

The Executive Committee Meeting of Aryankavu Devasthana Sourashtra Mahajana Sangam, Madurai was held on 24th January 2010.

This is the first EC Meeting after the Thirukkalyaanam of Sourashtra Bride Sri Pushkala Devi with Lord Sri Aiyappan of Aryankavu, held on 25th December 2009.

The feedbacks received from various sources were discussed and plans were chalked out to take remedial measures. It was felt that there was no wide coverage of Thirukkalyana Festival this year in the newspaper DINAMALAR. Immediately the Secretary contacted the Dinamalar Office and conveyed our anxiety as to why there was no wide coverage of celestial marriage of Sri Pushkala Devi with Lord Sri Aiyappan at Aryankavu kShetram.

It was suggested that if there was no wide coverage in the newspaper on 24th and 25th December, immediately our people should have written a number of letters to the Editor, Dinamalar asking the reason why they have not covered this important festival.
It is hoped that in future, such omission may not happen.

Other pending issues will be discussed in the next EC Meeting, it is said.

The photo taken after the meeting was over can be viewed in the following link.
