Introduction to Sourashtra Class Room

The Sourashtra Class Room has been started.
In this Sourashtra language will be taught in its OWN SCRIPT.
This Script is in use for a very long time. The first printed book available in this Script is SouraShtranaadi which was printed in 1880.
Sourashtra Class 1 deals with Sourashtra vowels. How they are written is explained.
Sourashtra Class 2 deals with Sourashtra Consonants. How they are written is explained.
The Script is very easy to write. All letters are written from left to right only.
The vowel markers are placed just right to the consonant uniformly to all consonants without any confusion. [The only exception is ‘haddu yakaram’ which is written first and afterwards consonant and vowel marker ‘aa’ is written.
The sounds are pronounced as they are written. In other words, the written symbols tally with their respective sound. There is no necessity to observe the native speaker.
In English you have to observe the native speaker for correct pronunciation and emulate. Here in Sourashtram there is no such observation required.
Modern Sourashtra is the off shoot of Sauraseni Prakritam.

RELEASE OF VISHWA SOURASHTRAM

An Electronic Journal in Sourashtram by name VISHWA SOURASHTRAM
was released by Sri O.K.Ramanandam, B.A.,B.T., President of Sourashtra Vidya Peetam, Madurai on 28th May 2009 and the first copy was received by Sri R.A.Mohanram, B.A.,B.L.
Secretary of Sreshta Sourashtra Sahitya Sabha, Madurai.
Sri O.S.Subramanian, M.A.Dip in Linguistics, is the Corporate(Issuing)Body of Vishwa
Sourashtram. Sri Markanday S. Sureshkumar is the Publisher pf Vishwa Sourashtram.

Sourashtra Language & Literacy Awareness Conference - 2009.

The First Sourashtra Language and Literacy Awareness Conference was held on 31st May 2009 at Chenda Mahal, Nagal Nagar, Dindigul.
The exhibition of Sourashtra Books and its sales counter was declared open by Dr.V.Sadasivam, MBBS, Vice President of the Conference Committee and Sourashtra Ilaignar Perani, Dindigul.

The need to popularise Sourashtra Script and bring more Literature in Sourashta Language was stressed in the above Conference by the Chief Guest Sri N.V.G.B. Rajaram, Ex-President of Sourashtra Sabha, Nagal Nagar, Dindigul and
Ex-President of Sourashtra Madhya Sabha.

About 300 delegates from Madurai,Bangalore, Chennai, Salem, Thirubuvanam,
Rasipuram, Erode, Kanchipuram, Kumbakonam, Thanjavur etc. participated in the Conference.

Sri Thada Subramanyam, Bhashaa Samman Awardee was felicitated.
Many Sourashtra Teachers, Writers, Editors of Journals and others who worked for the
conducting the conferene were honoured.

Two Seminars (1) on Sourashtra Language and Literature under the chairmanship of
Sri R.A.Mohanram, B.A., B.L., Secretary, Sreshta Sourashtra Sahitya Sabha, Madurai

(2) on popularising Sourashtra Script under the chairmanship of Sri O.S.Subramanian,
M.A., Diploma in Linguistics, Secretary, Sourashtra Vidya Peetam and Issuing Body
of 'Vishwa Sourashtram' [ First E-Journal in Sourashtram]
were held.
M/s Pulavar C.R.Saranath, T.G.Dwarakanath M.A. (Sanskrit), and Kasin Anandam
spoke on Sourashtra Literature.

M/s K.V.Pathy, B.E. (Hons.), P.S.Danabalan, B.E., and D.R.Jayaraman spoke on
popularising the Sourashtra Script.

Platinum Jubilee Celebration of Purohita Vaidika Maha Sabha, Madurai.

The Platinum Jubilee Celebrations [VIDRUMOTHSAVAM] [PAVAZHA VIZHA]
was celebrated on 16th May 2009 at Ranga Mahal, Sourashtra Sabha, Madurai.

Samashti Upanayanams - 2009

60 Upanayanams took place on 30.4.2009 at Sourashtra Hr.Secondary School, Madurai
ground between 9 and 10.30 a.m. organised by Veda Aagama Vaideeka Maha Sabhai, Madurai
thanks to Donations received from Public.
All Upanayanams are conducted free of charge. VaDu and his parents were offered with new clothes to wear and sit for homa.
After upanayanams were over food was served for 600 people [10 persons for one upanayanam]. VIPs were present and blessed the Vadus.
Sri Srinivasa Perumal deity from Srinivasa Perumal Temple was brought so that all can worship and seek the blessing of the lord Srinivasa.
